How many porta potties do I need for a party or event?

A 4-hour party with 100 guests needs 2 standard porta potties, and 3 if alcohol is served. The math is guests times hours divided by 250, since one unit handles about 250 uses. Add 1 unit for every 5 when alcohol is served, and a hand-wash station when food is served.

Standard units for events
Guests4-hour event8-hour event
50 guests1 units (2 with alcohol)2 units (3 with alcohol)
100 guests2 units (3 with alcohol)4 units (5 with alcohol)
150 guests3 units (4 with alcohol)5 units (6 with alcohol)
250 guests4 units (5 with alcohol)8 units (10 with alcohol)
500 guests8 units (10 with alcohol)16 units (20 with alcohol)

These counts assume one restroom visit per guest about every two hours. Use the event calculator for your exact numbers.

When does the porta potty arrive for a weekend event?

Units for Saturday or Sunday events are delivered on Friday and picked up on Monday at no extra cost. Weekday events get delivery the day before and pickup the next business day. Holiday weekends pick up on Tuesday. Delivery a day early means the unit is placed before guests or vendors arrive.

Need it gone the same night? Same-day pickup after an event can be arranged for an added fee; we quote it upfront.

Does my event need a wheelchair-accessible porta potty?

Events open to the public need wheelchair-accessible units under 2010 ADA Standards section 213.2: at least 5 percent of the portable toilets in each cluster, and at least 1 per cluster. Private backyard parties are not covered, but one accessible unit helps older guests and anyone using a walker.

See our wheelchair-accessible units and the ADA 213.2 text from the U.S. Access Board.

Do I need a hand-wash station at my event?

You need a hand-wash station when food is served or guests handle animals, such as at a cookout, fish fry, rodeo or petting area. One two-sink station covers about 4 standard units. A unit with a sink inside is a good choice for a single-unit backyard party.

Should a Hobbs wedding use porta potties or a restroom trailer?

A Hobbs wedding with more than 75 guests and a dress code is usually better served by a two-stall restroom trailer with flushing toilets, running water and lights. Smaller or outdoor ranch weddings often use 2 to 3 standard units plus a sink unit and a hand-wash station near the bar.

Compare both in our wedding restroom guide, or see restroom trailer rentals.

Do I need a permit for porta potties at a Hobbs event?

A porta potty on private property in Hobbs does not need its own permit. A block party in a city street needs a Block Party Application from the Hobbs Engineering Department, and events using city fields go through the Recreation Department, which can set restroom requirements.

See the City of Hobbs special events and permits page (checked October 2026).

Questions people ask before booking

Can I rent a porta potty for just a few hours?

Event prices cover up to 5 days on site, so a few hours costs the same as a weekend. The unit arrives the day before and leaves the next business day.

How much is a porta potty for a party in Hobbs?

A standard event unit starts at $175 with delivery and pickup in Lea County. A unit with a sink starts at $225. Your text quote lists every charge.

Does an event unit get cleaned during my party?

Event units arrive pumped, sanitized and stocked, and they do not need service during a 1- or 2-day event. For multi-day events, add a mid-event service visit.

Can it go in my backyard?

Yes, if there is a gate at least 4 feet wide and a firm path. The service hose reaches about 30 feet from the truck, so keep it within that distance of the driveway or alley.

Can I add another unit if more guests RSVP?

Yes. Call or text by Wednesday for a weekend event and we add it to the same delivery.

Do you give church or nonprofit discounts?

Yes. Churches, schools and registered nonprofits get 10 percent off event units. Send your tax-exempt certificate to remove sales or gross receipts tax.
